Research report exploring the issues of equality, diversity and inclusion within the UK infrastructure sector. The report suggests improved ways of working, with a specific focus on gender problems.

If the Transport Labour Market is to address its future recruitment challenges and support the country’s recovery from the pandemic, and make a significant contribution to our commitment to levelling up, then it needs to be a sector that is open to all.

This research report was commissioned by the Strategic Transport Apprenticeship Taskforce (STAT) to independently explore some of the issues associated with equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

The report focuses on gender across the UK’s transport and infrastructure sectors and suggests ways the sector can be more diverse and inclusive. The research builds on the progress made by STAT to enhance the diversity of the transport workforce to ensure it represents the society it serves. In collaboration with Government, industry and academia, the report seeks to continue to make improvements in EDI practices at all organisational levels. A forthcoming Transport Labour Market and Skills Discussion Paper and industry-led taskforce will help to drive this work forward.  Phillippa Groome’s report is undoubtedly another important addition to the discourse on promoting workplace inclusion in the transport sector.
