Sustainable Futures for Project Delivery Conference - 6 October 2021

Project X invites you to join our on-line conference

In the UK, post-pandemic recovery plans are founded on an assumption of improved project delivery to Build Back Better with ‘faster’, ‘fairer and ‘greener’ projects. This creates an unprecedented opportunity for academics and project delivery professionals to come together and consider how we can transform the performance of large-scale projects.

Throughout the day we consider three questions:

  • What are the challenges of transitioning to a more sustainable future?

  • What are the implications for project delivery capabilities, skills and standards?

  • How can we come together to pool our knowledge and ideas to navigate this change?

The registration link is here. Please note that all attendees must register in order to receive the joining instructions.

About Project X

Agenda

The morning promises a lively debate between academics, industry and UK government champions to examine next steps in the transition to Net Zero given the recent IPCC’s report and warning from the UN Secretary-General of “code red for humanity”. Later we hear from the National Audit Office on lessons learnt for projects delivered at Speed based on the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out in the UK.  The morning ends with a thoughtful discussion of the challenges of sustaining a reflexive learning mindset based on our latest capabilities research.

In the afternoon join our research teams and choose from parallel sessions on (1) How and when to apply data analytics to improve project delivery performance (2) Pathways to improve benefits realisation and the importance of leadership buy-in, governance, reporting and a benefits driven-culture (3) What works from our governance research. (4) Latest thinking on organisational capability implied by the latest Transforming Infrastructure Performance report from the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (UK Cabinet Office).

The final sessions of the day examine how we can come together to crystallise our ideas and plan next steps in our journey to a more sustainable future for project delivery and project delivery research.
